Shoulder Riding

Some cats like to sit on laps. Not me. (Ok, maybe once in a while.) My favourite place to hang out is on shoulders.

My foster keeper Alyssa trained me to always ask before climbing onto a shoulder. I usually remember.

The three best things about shoulder riding are:

  • sweaters
  • the view
  • access to high things
In exchange, I'll purr in your ear.

Reading List

Some of you humans think that my sister is the brainy one. Well, you're wrong.

Clearly, I'm the one who loves books. Just the other night I finished Neal Stephenson's 'Anathem' and now I'm onto theoretical ecology and population genetics. I especially like 'Chaos', it seems to explain how my brain works. ~M~

Poo-cat

Scott: " Merkhet, get your poo-covered face out of my coffee. "

Merkhet: <stares out window>

Scott: " Are you trying to give me your brain bacteria? "

Merkhet: " I already gave you my brain bacteria... "

Scott: " Is that what makes me love you? The brain bacteria? I thought it was this handsome stripe down your back. "

Scott: " Your stripes totally make you look like you have feathers. Doesn't he look like he has feathers? "

previously...
Merkhet was spotted dragging his butt over the bathroom floor and around the hallway. The following was captured using cell-phone video technology...

Lap Kittehs

It's okay, we still love each other. Must have been the trippy colours.

We iz good groomers

We cleaned each other for so long, our guardians had time to find a camera and video us. I didn't really like when Cleopatra bit my ears (they weren't THAT dirty Cleo!!) but it iz so good to have your sib lick your face & neck (you should try it!). We had our session in a nice little kitteh house that reminds us of the kennel that we came over here in; it has an extremely comfy pillow that accents our fantastic glistening stripes.

New Home!

We are brother and sister Egyptian Mau mixes who were rescued by Kitten Rescue volunteers in Los Angeles from a shelter where we had been dumped. We think our mother was a breeding Mau who got loose so the evil breeders couldn't sell us as purebreds and put us on the sidewalk. Cruel world! We were rescued on the day we were going to be put down (eek!!!) and taken to a nice room in Echo Park. Our brother Cairo was rescued too and adopted by another family. Now all three of us have new homes! Our new guardians wanted to keep us together--one of us is a small bronze female and the other is a lanky silver male. We are really excited to be in a nice apartment in Los Feliz now! The most confusing thing is the kitchen--it seems like everything in there should be aimed at feeding us (naturally!), but we guess our guardians have to eat too, even though they aren't cats. We tried really hard to share their dinner with them but they wouldn't let us on the table. They are also trying to get us to eat out of separate bowls, but we don't pay too much attention to that. Our new home has all of these great blankets and cushions to lounge on; we especially like the box under the window with the purple fleece. We get to play with Da Bird every day, dat is so much fun (but you always hog it Merkhet! I had to stand on top of the scratching post just to get my paws on it!!!) Well, it's nap time now.
